Security is a big factor in climbing a via ferrata. Which gear do you need? What kind of equipment?

Beetween Heat Waves and Storms

Already in 2022, the heat and storms were virulent, particularly in the via ferrata. Today in 2023, it is look like it is no different. So we're repeating what we said last year: be careful when you climb on a via ferrata, and check the weather forecast before you go.

Take enough water, especially if the via is exposed to the sun, and bring storm clothing. Sneakers are not the right footwear for via ferrata climbing, especially if the approach terrain is dry to the bone or soggy. Don't twist an ankle because you're wearing gym slippers instead of mountain boots.

For lightning (in the sky, not the chocolate's one), watch out when you're on the via. The cabled lifeline is conductive, and lightning can sometimes fall on it. It's not every day, but it would be a shame to get caught in one.
